CHAPTER 68
An Act to prohibit hunting with a rifle of a caliber larger than twenty-
two/one-hundredths in the county of Lancaster, to provide how such
prohibition may become effective in such county, and to provide a
penalty for violations.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to hunt in the county of
Lancaster with a rifle of a caliber larger than twenty-two /one-hundredths.
Any person violating this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and
punished as provided by law; provided, however, that this section shall
not be construed to prohibit any person from shooting ground hogs with
a larger rifle, except during the general open season for hunting in such
county.
§ 2. The provisions of § 1 of this act shall not become effective within
the county of Lancaster unless and until the governing body of such
county adopts an ordinance providing for the same because of the re-
quirements of public safety.
