CHAPTER 583

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
15-854.2, validating proceedings had in the preparation, certification
and adoption of zoning ordinances in counties after December thirty-
one, nineteen hundred fifty-nine, and prior to January one, nineteen
hundred sixty-two.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
15-854.2 as follows:

§ 15-854.2. All proceedings had in the preparation, certification and
adoption of zoning ordinances after December thirty-first, nineteen hun-
dred fifty-nine, and in counties prior to January one, nineteen hundred
sixty-two, which shall have been in substantial compliance with the pro-
visions of this article are validated and confirmed, and all such zoning
ordinances adopted or attempted to be adopted pursuant to the provisions
of this article are declared to be validly adopted and enacted, notwith-
standing any defects or irregularities in the adoption thereof.

2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
