CHAPTER 33
An Act to amend Chapter 552 of the Acts of Assembly of 1950, approved
April 7, 1950, which provided a new charter for the Town of Pound,
by adding in Chapter V, a new section numbered 2, relating to a
special justice.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That Chapter 552 of the Acts of Assembly of nineteen hundred fifty,
approved April seven, nineteen hundred fifty, be amended by adding in
Chapter V, a new section numbered 2, as follows:
Chapter V, § 2. The council may also appoint a special justice for
the issuance of warrants of arrest. Such justice shall also have power,
if the council so prescribes, to grant or deny bail in proper cases and when
bail is denied to remand persons to jail as provided by law for Justices
of the Peace. The term of office of such special justice shall not be for a
term beyond that of the council by which he is appointed. His com-
pensation shall be that provided by law for Justices of the Peace. Any
member of the council, except the Mayor, may be appointed as such
justice.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from the date of its
passage.
