An Act to amend and reenact § 6-54, as amended, of the Code of Virginia,
relating to the payment of certain bank balances to next of kin of
decedent.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 6-54, as amended, of the Code of Virginia, be amended and
reenacted as follows:
6-54. When the balance in any bank or trust company to the
credit of a deceased person, upon whose estate there shall have been no
qualification, shall not exceed * one thousand dollars, it shall be lawful for
such bank or trust company, after one hundred and twenty days from the
death of such person, to pay such balance to his next of kin, whose receipt
therefor shall be a full discharge and acquittance to such bank or trust
company to all persons whomsoever on account of such deposit.
