An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding new sections numbered
48-27.1 and 48-53.1, relating to the disposition by court clerks of
certain documents and records relating to crop liens and agricultural
chattel deeds, respectively.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding sections numbered
43-27.1 and 43-53.1, as follows:
§ 43-27.1. Any agreement evidencing a lien on crops required by
§ 43-27 to be docketed in a clerk’s office may be destroyed by such clerk
after twenty-four months from the date the same is docketed in his office.
Any “Crop Lien Book’, together with the index thereto, required by
§ 43-27 to be kept in a clerk’s office, may be destroyed by such clerk after
twenty-four months from the date the last entry has been made therein,
provided the same is replaced with a similar book and index for the recor-
dation of current liens.
§ 43-53.1. Any agricultural chattel deed of trust book, together with
the index thereto, required by § 43-53 to be kept in the office of a clerk
of court, and any instrument filed for docketing therein, or copy thereof,
may be destroyed by such clerk after twenty years from the date of
maturity of any obligation evidenced thereby.
