An Act to amend and reenact § $8.1-474, as amended, of the Code of Vir-
ginia, relating to eligibility of certain groups for issuance of policies
of group life insurance.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 38.1-474, as amended, of the Code of Virginia be amended and
reenacted as follows:
§ 38.1-474. A policy of group life insurance may be issued covering
at date of issue not less than twenty-five members of one or more troops or
other units of federal, State, or municipal troopers or federal, State or
municipal police of any state, or one or more fire departments or companies
which are members of the Virginia State Firemen’s Association. The
policy shall be issued to the commanding officer of the federal, State, or
municipal troopers or federal, State or municipal police, o7 the President
of the Virginia State Firemen’s Association, who shall be deemed to be
the employer for the purposes of this article, and the premiums shall be
paid by the members of such units for the benefit of persons other than the
employer. When the benefits of the policy are offered to all eligible members
of a unit of the federal, State, or municipal troopers or federal, State, or
municipal police, or fire department or company, not less than seventy-five
per centum of the members of such unit may be so insured.
