Chap. 2.—An ACT tor the relief of Robert O. Norris, Jr. [H B 2]
Approved December 16, 1944.
Whereas, Robert ©. Norris, Jr., was appointed a Member of the
State Corporation Commission on August 30, 1944, and took the oath of,
and assumed office as a Member of the State Corporation Commission
on the same day. and
Whereas, the Supreme Court of “\ppeals of Virginia, in an opinion
rendered on November 20, 1044, held that Robert ©. Norris, Jr.. was
ineligible for this office, and consequently not entitled to compensation,
and |
Whereas, Robert ©. Norris, Jr., at the time of his appointment,
withdrew from his practice of law and came to Richmond to perform the
duties of office to which he had been appointed, and until the court
decision above referred to, performed all the duties incumbent upon him,
it is deemed equitable that an appropriation be made to him of a sum in
eu of the salary which he would have been entitled to receive had the
appointment been valid.
Now, therefore, Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
The Comptroller of Virginia is directed to draw a warrant, payable
to R. O. Norris, Jr., on the State Treasurer, in the amount of $1,822.19,
which is to be paid from funds heretofore appropriated to the State
Corporation Commission.
I, E. Griffith Dodson, Clerk of the House of Delegates of the Com-
monwealth of Virginia, do hereby certify that the extra session of the
(seneral Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia, at which the Acts
uf Assembly herein printed were enacted, automatically expired pursuant
to House joint resolution on March fifteenth, nineteen hundred and
torty-five.

Note: The first act herein printed is an emergency act, and as such
was effective when approved by the Governor on the date following the
title, and the second and only other act herein printed, according to the
joint resolution under which the session automatically expired, becomes
effective at the first moment of June 14, 1945.
