Chap. 48.—An ACT to authorize and empower the State Commission on Con-
servation and Development for the purpose of co-operating with the govern-
ment of the United States in reducing and relieving unemployment and in
conserving natural resources, and to extend the park system of the Common-
wealth, to purchase or otherwise acquire for park purposes real estate within
the Commonwealth and for such purpose to appropriate the sum of $50,000.00.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, as follows:
Section 1. The State Commission on Conservation and Development
is hereby authorized and empowered to purchase or otherwise acquire
for park purposes such real estate within the Commonwealth as the said
Commission shall deem proper to extend the park system of the Com-
monwealth and to co-operate with the government of the United States
in reducing and relieving unemployment and in conserving natural re-
sources in the Commonwealth.
Section 2. For the purpose of enabling the Commission on Con-
servation and Development to exercise the powers conferred by the pre-

ceding section there is hereby appropriated to the said Commission, out
of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of
fifty thousand ($50,000.00) dollars, or so much thereof as shall be re-
quired, the same to be paid by the Treasurer on warrants of the Comp-
troller, upon the proper voucher or vouchers required by the Comp-
troller, approved by the chairman of the said Commission.
Section 3. The money herein appropriated shall not be expended,
however, either in whole or in part, nor shall any real estate be acquired
or purchased pursuant to the provisions of this act, unless and until such
expenditure and such acquisition or purchase shall be approved in
writing by the Governor.
