Chap. 4.—An ACT to provide a uniform mode of Cancellation of Cer-
tificates of Debt of the State, and Coupons.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That it shall be
the duty of the officers of government, who are required,
under the provisions of law, to cancel the certificates of debt
of the state which shall be redeemed, or which may be trans-
ferred or changed, as provided in chapter forty-two of the
Code of eighteen hundred and seventy-three; also all cou-
pons which may be paid or received in the payment of any
debts or demands due the state, to cancel the same in the
following mode, to wit: The said officer or officers shall, b
an instrument to be provided by the governor, cancel all
such certificates of debt and coupons by causing three holes
to be punched through the same, in some wniform mode.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
