Chap. 334.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 3 of an Act enti-
tled an Act to incorporate the Town of Mount Jackson, in Shenan-
doah County.
Approved March 31, 1875.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That section
three of an act entitled an act to incorporate the town of
Mount Jackson, in the county of Shenandoah, be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 3. The officers of said town shall consist of five trustees,
to-wit: G. H. H. Koontz, John W. Miller, Samuel Kingree,
S. K. Moore, and John P. Lonas, who shall constitute the
mayor and council of said town, any three of whom shall
be a board for the transaction of business. The mayor and
council shall have power to appoint a sergeant and such other
officers as mnay be necessary, together with a police force, for
the preservation of order, who shall remain in office until
their successors be elected and qualified according to law.
And no license to sell strong or spirituous liquors, ale, beer.
or porter, or drinks of like nature, within the corporate lim-
its of said town, or within one mile thereof, shall be granted
by any person or persons having authority to grant license
or licenses, unless the person or persons gpplying therefor
shall produce tho certificate of the mayor and council of said
town of their consent to the granting of such license.
2. This act shall be in force from and after the first day of
June, eighteen hundred and seventy-five.
