Chap. 943.—An ACT for the relief of E. F. Lawrence, the widow of a Confed-
erate soldier.
Approved March 7, 19800. \
Whereas W. R. Lawrence was a soldier in the service of Virginia
in the late war between the states, and while in such service received
a wound, from the effects of which he died after the close of the
war, leaving a widow, It. I’. Lawrence, who is now poor and dependent;
therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That. the
county court of Patrick county shall inquire into the condition of
the said E. F. Lawrence, and if said court shall certify to the auditor
of public accounts that the said FE. F. Lawrence is now poor and needy,
and that her late husband, W. R. Lawrence, was a true and gallant
soldier during the late war between the states, was loyal to Virginia,
and died after the close of the war from the effects of a wound received
while in the service of the state, the auditor of publie accounts is
hereby authorized and directed to place the name of the said E. F.
Lawrence, of Patrick county, on the pension lists, to receive a pension
ax other widows of Confederate soldiers.
