Chap. 940.—An ACT for the relief of A. J. Ramsey, a Confederate soldier,
of Pittsylvania county.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas A. J. Ramsey, a gallant Confederate soldier, of company C,
thirty-ninth Virginia cavalry, was a true and gallant soldier during the
Confederate war, was loyal to Virginia; and
Whereas he is now suffering from the following disabilities—to wit:
Almost total loss of use of one leg, causing lameness, and a broken
jawbone, received in the war; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county court of Pittsylvania shall examine into the condition of the
above named A. J. Ramsev, a Confederate soldier, and should it be that
he was true and loyal to Virginia through the war, and that he is now
afflicted and disabled and incapacitated for manual labor, that he is
needy and poor, and should receive aid from Virginia; and if the county
court of Pittsylvania county should send a certificate of these facts to
the auditor of public accounts of Virginia, then the auditor of public
accounts is directed to place the name of A. J. Ramsey on the pension
list, and pay him annually the sum of fifteen dollars, commencing on
and after the first day of April, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
