Chap. 928.—An ACT for the relief of Johnson & Early, assignees of C. M.
Edwards.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas one C. M. Edwards, of the county of Carroll, did care for
and maintain one J. E. Rankins, a lunatic, under an order of the county
court of Carroll county entered at the January term, eighteen hun-
dred and ninety-six, at the price of thirty-five cents per day, as allowed
by law; and
Whereas at a county court held for said county at the April term,
eighteen hundred and ninety-six, the said C. M. Edwards was allowed
the sum of thirty dollars and forty-five cents for such care and main-
tenance; and
Whereas said allowance was duly certified by said court to the
auditor of public accounts for payment, but payment was refused by
the said auditor of public accounts; an
Whereas the said C. M. Edwards assigned and transferred said claim
to Johnson and Early before the same was presented to the auditor
of public accounts for payment; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
auditor of public accounts be, and he is hereby, directed to issue his
warrant upon the treasurer of the state of Virginia in favor of the said
Johnson and Early for the sum of thirty dollars and forty-five cents,
payable out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated,
which sum, when received by the said Johnson and Early, shall be in
full of the amount due the said C. M. Edwards on account of the said
allowance made by the said county court of Carroll.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
