Chap. 922.—An ACT for the relief of James L. Arthur, a disabled Confederate
soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas James L. Arthur, a Confederate soldier, of Bedford county,
was a true and gallant soldier during the late war, and was loyal to
Virginia; and
Whereas he was wounded in the right arm during the late war, in
consequence of which wound he is incapacitated for manual labor;
an
Whereas said James L. Arthur is aged and infirm and without means
of support; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county court of Bedford county shall examine into the condition of the
said James L. Arthur, and should it be that he has suffered and is
incapacitated as above stated, and that he is needy and poor and should
receive aid from Virginia; and if the county court of Bedford county
shall send a certificate of the facts to the auditor of public accounts,
that the auditor of public accounts shall place the name of James L.
Arthur on the pension list, and shall pay him annually the sum of
fifteen dollars on and after the first day of April, nineteen hundred.
