Chap. 921.—An ACT to refund to Thomas J. Thornton $17.50 erroneously
charged to him by the superintendent of penitentiary.

Whereas Thomas J. Thornton, an officer of the penitentiary of Vir-
ginia, regularly and duly commissioned as a keeper, lost several days
by sickness and for which Superintendent Lynn deducted the sum of
seventeen dollars and fifty cents from his salary as exhibited on the
accompanying certified statement, and as it has always been the rule
of the institutions of Virginia not. to charge officers with a few days
lost from sickness or providential reasons; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
auditor of public accounts be, and he is hereby, directed to issue to
the said Thomas J. Thornton a warrant on the treasurer of Virginia for
the sum of seventeen dollars and fifty cents.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
