Chap. 913.—An ACT for the relief of Samuel M. Hawkins, a Confederate
soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Samuel M. Hawkins, a Confederate soldier of company G,
eleventh Virginia infantry, was a true and gallant soldier during the
late war, was loyal to Virginia; and
Whereas he was wounded in the battle of Sharpsburg on the seven-
teenth day of September, eighteen hundred and sixty-two, by receiv-

ing a shot through the joint of his right elbow, causing a stiffened arm,
so that said arm has been rendered partially useless for manual labor;
therefore,
1. Be it enacted bv the general assembly of Virginia, That if the
county court of Bedford county shall examine into the condition of the
said Samuel M. Hawkins, a Confederate soldier, and should it be that
he was true end loval to Virginia during the war, and that he is now
afflicted and helpless from the wounds above stated, and partially in-
capacitated for manual labor, and should receive aid from Virginia, and
if the county court of Bedford county shall send a certificate of the
facts to the auditor of public accounts of Virginia, then the auditor of
public accounts shall place the name of Samuel M. Hawkins upon the
pension list, and pav him annually the sum of fifteen dollars.
