Chap. 719.—An ACT for the relief of the. Norfolk, Portsmouth and New-
port News railway company.
Approved March 3, 1900.
Whereas an act passed at the present session of the legislature for
the incorporation of the Norfolk, Portsmouth and Newport News rail-
way company, approved January seventeenth, nineteen hundred, was
found to contain certain errors which necessitated the repeal of said
act and the enactment, in the place of said repealed act, of another
act liaving substantially the same purpose and effect of said repealed
act, which said act is entitled an act to authorize the consolidation of
the Port Norfolk electric railway company, the Portsmouth and Smith-
field railroad company, and the Portsmouth, Pig’s Point and Newport
News railway, ferry, and hotel company into a corporation to be known
as the Norfolk, Portsmouth and Newport News railway company, and
to define its powers, approved February twentieth, nineteen hundred;
and
Whereas the charter fee amounting to the sum of five hundred and
seventy-five dollars was paid at the time of the introduction of said
repealed act, and another charter fee for the same sum was also paid at
the time of the introduction of said act approved February twentieth,
nineteen hundred; and
Whereas it is proper that the charter fee paid on the said repealed
act should be returned to the said Norfolk, Portsmouth and Newport
News railway company; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
auditor of public accounts be, and is hereby, directed to issue his warrant
for the sum of five hundred and seventy-five dollars, payable to the
order of the Norfolk, Portsmouth and Newport News railway company.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
