Chap. 415.—An ACT to validate certain contracts made and entered into by
and between the Nottoway building and loan association and its members.

Whereas on the fifteenth day of February, eighteen hundred and
ninety-two, a charter was granted by the judge of the circuit court for
the county of Nottoway, in vacation, to the Nottoway building and
loan association, whereby the said association was authorized to con-
duct generally the business of a building and loan association; which
said charter was duly recorded in the clerk’s office of the said circuit
court, as well as in the office of the secretary of the commonwealth, as
required by law; and
Whereas doubt has arisen as to whether the said circuit court judge
could, at that time, grant a charter under which such a business could
be validly conducted; and there being some doubt, therefore, as to
the validity and proper effect of contracts made by and between the
said association and its members prior to the passage of the act ap-
proved March first, eighteen hundred and ninety-four, entitled “an act
to define the powers and limitations of building and loan associations ”’ ;
therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That all of the
contracts made by and between the said Nottoway building and loan
association and its members prior to the passage of the said act of
March first, eighteen hundred and ninety-four, be, and they are hereby,
declared to be as valid and binding to all intents and purposes as if they
had been made and entered into after the passage of the said act.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
