Chap. 399.—An ACT to authorize the board of directors of the Norfolk and
western railway company to locate and construct or purchase certain
branches,

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the board
of directors of the Norfolk and western railway company, a corporation
organized and existing pursuant to and under the act of assembly ap-
proved January fifteenth, eighteen hundred and ninety-six, by the pur-
chasers of the railroads and property of the Norfolk and western rail-
road company, may locate and construct or purchase branch railroads
not exceeding twenty-five miles each in length from any point on the
line of its railroad and branches for the purpose of affording trans-
portation facilities to any mining, manufacturing, or industrial enter-
prise, or for the purpose of bringing out timber or the products of any
county. ] |
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
