Chap. 357.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2 of an act entitled an act
to incorporate the Abingdon coal and iron railroad company, approved
April 11, 1887, and to extend the time for the completion of line of road by
the Virginia Carolina railway company, which has succeeded to all the
property, rights, and franchises of said Abingdon coal and iron railroad
company.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
vo of an act entitled an act to incorporate the Abingdon coal and iron
uilroad company, approved April eleventh, eighteen hundred and
izhty-seven, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 2. The capital stock of said company shall not be less than fifty
nousand nor more than three hundred thousand dollars, in shares of
ne hundred dollars each. Said company may issue bonds in the usual
form of such securities, to an amount not exceeding twenty thousand
dollars per mile of its line of road, and secure the payment of the
principal and interest of same by mortgage or deed a trust upon all
its property, rights, and franchises, as well as upon its superstructure,
equipment, and all property hereafter acquired by it, and may lawfully
accept the guaranty and endorsement of its bonds by, and may lawfully
guarantee and endorse the bonds of any railroad company in this state,
or any adjoining state or states.
2. That the time for the completion of the line of road of the said
Virginia-Carolina railway company, which has been duly organized
under the laws of this state, and has succeeded to all the property,
rights, and franchises of the Virginia western coal and iron railroad
company, and the said Abingdon coal and iron railroad company, be,
and the same is hereby, extended to January first, nineteen hundred and
two.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
