Chap. 347.—An ACT to enable the board of supervisors of Clarke county to
borrow money and issue bonds therefor.
Approved February 14, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the board
yf supervisors of Clarke county be, and it is hereby, authorized and
mpowered to borrow upon the credit and faith of said county, a sum
lot exceeding sixty-five thousand dollars ($65,000.00), and to issue new
yonds for the same, bearing interest at a rate not exceeding four and
ne-half per centum, payable annually or semi-annually, in lieu of those
utstanding issued by said board, which latter were issued in lieu of the
riginal bonds issued by the said board on account of the subscription
f the said county to the capital stock of the Shenandoah valley railroad
ompany; said new bonds to be issued in such series and of such denomi-
ations, and payable at such times and in such manner as said board
yay see fit, and upon such conditions as may be agreed upon by said
oard and parties with whom it negotiates, or as said board may see
roper to impose. The board of supervisors of said county of Clark
hall embrace in its annual levy a sum sufficient to pay the annual
iterest on said bonds, and shall also provide by levy, from year to year,
sinking fund of not exceeding ten per centum on every one hundred
ollars of taxable property within the said county, which sinking fund
nall be held and applied to the payment of the principal of said bonds.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
