Chap. 330.—An ACT for the protection of partridges and quail in Lee county,
Virginia.
Approved February 14, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it shall
be unlawful for any person to kill or capture partridge (or quail) in
Lee county between the fifteenth dav of January and the fifteenth dav
of November of anv vear, or to sell, or offer for sale, or buy any part-
ridge (or quail) killed or captured during that period of time.
2. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to capture partridges
(or quail) i in said county by nets or traps at any time.
3. It shall be unlawful for any person, not a resident of said county
to kill or capture partridges (or quatl) in the said county, unless he
shall have first obtained a license, which said license, when so obtained.
shall confer upon him the same privileges of hunting as a resident of
said county enjoys.
4. The amount to be paid for said license shall be ten dollars for the
hunting season, and shall he obtained annually, and in addition thereto
the applicant shall pav to the commissioner of the revenue a fee of
seventy-five cents for issuing said license.
5. The license tax hereinbefore provided for shall be paid to the
county treasurer to the credit of the county school fund, and shall be
used as anv other money belonging to said fund.
It shall he unlawful for any person not licensed as herein pro-
vided for to ship or transport partridges (or quail) from said county.
and the person licensed shall not ship from said county any partridges
(or quail) killed by persons other than himself.
7. Any person violating any provision of this act shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor and pay a fine of not less than ten nor more
than twenty dollars for each violation of the same, one half of which
fine shall go to the informer.
8. Violations of this law shall be prosecuted as other misdemeanors.
' 9. All acts and parts of acts in conflict with this act are hereby
repealed.
10. This act shall be in force from its passage.
