Chap. 316.—An ACT for the relief of George B. Keezell, Pembroke Pettit,
and John A. Curtis.
Approved February 10, 1900.
Whereas under and by virtue of the terms of an act approved the
seventh day of February, eighteen hundred and nincty-cight, creating
the board of fisheries of Virginia, the governer appointed Messieurs
George B. Keezell. Pembroke Pettit, and John A. Curtis as three of the
five members cons stituting said board; and
Whereas as a result of the efforts of said board in the energetic and
capable administration of the law a great inerease of revenue “from its
fish and ovster interests have been secured to Virginia; and
Whereas the aforesaid George B. Keezell, Pembroke Pettit, and John
A. Curtis have, during the two years of their service, received no com-
pensation; and
Whereas it is deemed for the best interests of the commonwealth that
from the funds derived from the execution of the aforesaid law some
compensation should be paid them for their services; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the anditor
of public accounts is hereby authorized and directed to draw his war-
rant in favor of George B. Keezell for the sum of four hundred dollars
(8100), in favor of Pembroke Pettit for the hke sum of four hundred
dollars (S100), and in favor of John A. Curtis for the like sum of four
hundred dollars ($400), as compensation for their serivees rendered as
members of the board of fisheries of Virginia for the period prior to
the passage of this act, said payments to be made out of the * oyster
fund.”
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
