Chap. 279.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2131 of the code of Vir-
ginia, as amended and re-enacted by an act entitled an act to amend and
re-enact section 2131 of the code of Virginia, as amended and re-enacted
by an act entitled an act to amend and re-enact sections 2131, 2133, 2134.
2135, 2137, 2148, 2151, 2153, and to repeal sections 2141, 2142, 2143, 2144,
2145, and 2147 of chapter 97 of the code of Virginia, in relation to oysters
and to add independent sections thereto, approved February 24, 1894.

1. Be it enacted by the general assemblv of Virginia, That an act
entitled “an act to amend and re-enact section twenty-one hundred and
thirty-one of the code of Virginia as amended and re-enacted by an act
entitled an act to amend and re-enect sections twenty-one hundred and
thirty-one, twenty-one hundred and thirty-three, twenty-one hundred
and thirty-four, twenty-one hundred and thirty-five, twenty-one hundred
and thirty-seven, tw enty -one hundred and forty eight, twentv-one hun-
dred and fifty-one, twenty-one hundred and fifty-three, and to repeal
sections tw enty- -one hundred and fortv-one, twenty- one hundred and
forty-two, twentv- -one hundred and forty -three, twenty-one hundred
and forty-four, twenty-one hundred and forty-five, and twenty-one hun-
dred and forty-seven of chapter ninety-seven of the code of Virginia, in
relation to oysters, and to add independent sections thereto,” approved
February twenty-fourth, eighteen hundred and ninety-four, be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 2131. Inspectors of oysters; appointment and removal; term, quali-
fication, and bond.—The board of fisheries shall, on or before the first
day of May next, appoint for the counties, cities, and districts in which
oysters are caught or planted, one or more inspectors of oysters, whose
term of office shall commence on May first, of nineteen hundred, and who
shall continue in office for the term of two years, but may be removed
by the board of fisheries at any time for any malfeasance, misfeasance,
incompetency, or gross neglect of official duty, and such removal shall
be deemed a vacation of the office. All vacancies in the office shall be
filled by the board of fisheries. Every inspector shall, before the county
or corporation court within the jurisdiction of which he resides, take
the oaths and give bond prescribed by chapter thirteen of the code of
Virginia. The bond shall be in a penalty of two thousand dollars. The
clerk of the court shall transmit a copy of the bond to the auditor of
public accounts within thirty days after its execution.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
