Chap. 277.—An ACT for the relief of A. B. Cook.

Whereas at the October term, eighteen hundred and ninety-three,
of the hustings court of Roanoke city, Virginia, A. B. Cook, then a
resident of said city, was indicted upon two separate charges of selling
real estate without a license, and was by a jurv in said court found guilty,
and was upon one of said indictments fined one hundred dollars, and
upon the other indictment was fined fiftv dollars; and
Whereas it appears that at the time of the alleged violation of law
by the said A. B. Cook, a substantial and valid defense might have been
made, but he was not in condition to make it, and it was not presented
fo the court and jury at the time of the trial of said charges; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That said A. B.
Cook be, and he is hereby, relieved and discharged from any further
hability on account of the verdicts and judgments upon the said indict-
ments, and is hereby exonerated from the payment of the same.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
