Chap. 245.—An ACT to incorporate the golden chain society of Westmoreland
county, Virginia.
Approved February 3, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That Moses
Thomson, C. M. Dixon, Robert Usnel, L. Johnson and Lewis Dixon,
and such other persons as are now and may hereafter become members
of this society, hereby created, and their successors, be, and the same
are hereby, constituted a body corporate under the name and style of
the olden chain society of W estmoreland county, Virginia, with all the
rights, powers and privileges, and subject to the restrictions and liabili-
ties of like corporations created by the laws of this state. The object of
this society shall be to aid, assist, and care for the sick and disabled,
and to provide for the burial of its members, and to help their families
as far as they may deem advisable. Said society shall have power to own
real estate not exceeding five hundred dollars in value, to raise and accu-
mulate a fund, out of which its expenses and liabilities may be promptly
paid, to assess its members their proper share of its burdens, to enforce
fines for non-payment of same, to sue and be sued, and to do all such
other things as may be necessary or useful in carrying out the purposes
of the society.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
