Chap. 244.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 1 of an act entitled an act
o authorize the governor to grant a conditional pardon to persons confined
n the penitentiary upon recommendation of the board of directors of said
nstitution, approved March 3, 1898.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
e of an act entitled an act to authorize the governor to grant a con-
ional pardon to persons confined in the penitentiary upon recom-
ndation of the board of directors of said institution, approved March
ird, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, be amended and re-enacted so
to read as follows:
<1, Whenever any person is confined in the penitentiary for any
ense, and shall have served out half of his term of imprisonment, he
all be allowed to file a petition with the board of directors of said
-titution, setting forth that he has served half of his term, that he
s kept the prison rules in every respect for the two years next preceding
» date of his petition (if he shall have been confined in the peni-
itiary so long), and asking the said board to recommend him to the
vernor as a proper person to receive a conditional pardon.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
