Chap. 158.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 14 of an act entitled an
act to incorporate the city of Newport News, in the county of Warwick,
and to provide a charter therefor, approved January 16, 1896.

Approved January 26, 1900.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
fourteen of an act entitled an act to incorporate the city of Newport
News, in the county of Warwick, and to provide a charter therefor,
approved January sixteenth, eighteen hundred and ninety-six, be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:

S$ 14. The officers elected by the council may be removed from office
for cause after a proper investigation and hearing. In case of any
vacancy occurring in any municipal office filled by the council, wherein
it is not otherwise herein provided, the said council shall appoint a
qualified person to fill said office during the unexpired term.

2. All acts or parts of acts in conflict with this act be, and the same
ire hereby, repealed.

3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
