Chap. 1443.—An ACT for the relief of James Austin, a disabled Confederate
soldier, of Greene county.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas James Austin, a disabled Confederate soldier, is suffering
from wounds, and was a true and gallant soldier during the war, and
was loyal to Virginia; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the county
court of Greene shall examine into the condition of the above-named
James Austin, a Confederate soldier; and should it be found that he was
true and loyal to Virginia through the war, and that he is now afllicted
and disabled, and incapacitated for manual labor by reason of injury,
disease, or old age; that he is needy and poor, and should receive aid
from Virginia; and if the county court of Greene shall send a certificate
of fact to the auditor of public accounts in Virginia, then the auditor
of public accounts is directed to place the name of James Austin on

the pension list, and pay him annually the sum of fifteen dollars, on
and after the first day of April, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be enforced from its passage.
