Chap. 1441.—An ACT for the relief of Mrs. Lucy St. Clair, widow of a Confed-
erate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas J.emiel St. Clair, a soldier in the Confederate army, a mem-
ber of company H, thirty-fourth Virginia infantry, was a true and loyal
soldier to the cause and to his state; and
Whereas he has died since the war, leaving a widow, who is aged and
penniless; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
hustings court of the city of Roanoke, Virginia, shall investigate the
facts, and should it be found that the said Lemiel St. Clair was a Con-
federate soldier, true and loyal to the cause and to his state during the
war, and has since died, and that his widow is now old and penniless
and should receive aid from the state of Virginia, the said court shall
certify to the auditor of public accounts that the above facts are true,
then the said auditor is directed to place the name of Mistress Lucy St.
Clair, widow of said Lemiel St. Clair, on the pension list and pay her
annually the sum of fifteen dollars, on and after the first day of April,
nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
