Chap. 1438.—An ACT for the relief of Mary Harvey, widow of a Confederate
soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Mistress Mary Harvey, widow of Thomas Harvey, a Confede-
rate soldier of company E, fourth Virginia infantry; and
Whereas said Harvey was a true and gallant soldier during the civil
war, was loyal to Virginia; and
Whereas the said widow is paralyzed, almost helpless, and in need,
unable to take care of herself; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county court of Montgomery shall examine into the condition of the
above-named Mary Harvey, the widow of a Confederate soldier, and
should it be that the said Thomas Harvey was true and loyal to Vir-
ginia throughout the war, and that the widow is now paralyzed and
almost helpless, and in need, and should receive aid from Virginia, and
if the county court of Montgomery county should send a certificate of
said facts to the auditor of public accounts of Virginia, then the auditor
of public accounts is directed to place the name of Mary Harvey on
the pension list, and pay her annually the sum of fifteen dollars, on
and after April first, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
