Chap. 1435.—An ACT for the relief of John W. Cook, a Confederate soldier
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas John W. Cook was a Confederate soldier of company I
fourth regiment of Virginia infantry, was a gallant soldier during th
war, and was loyal to Virginia; and
Whereas the said John W. Cook is now seventy-one years of age, an
by reason of his old age and infirmity is now unable to perform manus
labor; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That th
county court of Montgomery county shall examine into the condition
the said John W. Cook, and if it shall appear that he was true and loyal
to Virginia through the war; that he is now old, infirm, poor, and
should receive aid from Virginia; and if the county court of Mont-
gomery shall certify these facts to the auditor of public accounts, then
the said auditor is directed to place the name of the said John W. Cook
on the pension list and pay him annually the sum of fifteen dollars, on
and after the first day of April, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
