Chap. 1426.—An ACT for the relief of Gustina A. Grubbs, widow of William
W. Grubbs, a Confederate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas William W. Grubbs, late of Hanover county, was a true and
loyal soldier in the Confederate army, having enlisted on the third of
August, eighteen hundred and sixty-one, in Page’s battery, and served
until the close of the war; and
Whereas the said William W. Grubbs was severely wounded at the
battle of Chanccllorsville on the second of May, eighteen hundred and
sixty-three, from which wound he afterwards died; and
Whereas the said William A. Grubbs left a widow, the said Gustina
A. Grubbs, who is verv old and infirm, and is in destitute circumstances,
and should receive aid from the state of Virginia; therefore
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That upon
proof of the facts hereinbefore recited before the county court of Han-
over county, and upon a certificate from said court to the auditor of
public accounts, the said auditor is hereby authorized and directed to
place the name of Mistress Gustina A. Grubbs upon the pension roll
and pay her the sum of fifteen dollars annually, beginning with April
first, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
