Chap. 1423.—An ACT for the relief of Lafanty Ball, a disabled Confederate
soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Lafanty Ball, a disabled Confederate soldier, Stribbling’s
battery, Thirty-eighth Virginia battalion of artillery, was a true and
gallant soldier during the war between the states; was loyal to Vir-
ginia, and :
Whereas he is now suffering from the following disabilities—to-wit :
From broken health, caused by hardships endured during the war; 1s
old, in very destitute circumstances; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the county
court of Fauquier shall examine into the condition of the said Lafanty
Ball, a Confederate soldier, and should it be that he was loyal to Vir-
ginia through the war, and is now afflicted and disabled, and totally
incapacitated for manual labor by reason of said infirmities caused by
the war, that he is necdy and poor and should receive aid from Virginia.
and if the county court of Fauquier county should send a certificate of
the facts to the auditor of public accounts of Virginia, then the auditor
of public accounts is directed to place the name of the said Lafanty
Ball on the pension list, and pay him annually the sum of fifteen dol-
lars on and after April first, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
