Chap. 1367.—An ACT for relief of C. P. Smith.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas C. P. Smith, a disabled Confederate soldier of company A,
fourth Virginia cavalry, Wickham’s brigade, was a true and gallant
soldier during the war, was loyal to Virginia; and
Whereas he is now suffering from the following disability—to wit:
Chronic rheumatism, contracted during the war while in prison, and
is totally disabled from performing manual labor; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the county
court of Fauquier shall examine into the condition of the above-named
C. P. Smith, a Confederate soldier, and should it be that he was true
and loyal to Virginia through the war, and now afflicted and disabled
and incapacitated for manual labor; by reason of said disability, and
is poor and needy, and should receive aid from Virginia, and if the
county court of Fauquier should send a certificate of the facts to
the auditor of public accounts of Virginia, then the auditor of public
accounts is directed to place the name of C. P. Smith on the pension
list, and pay him annually the sum of fifteen dollars, for total dis-
ability.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
