Chap. 1365.—An ACT for the relief of Mrs. Lizzie Quillin, widow of a Confe
erate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Ewell H. Quillin was a true and gallant Confederate sc
dier of the forty-eighth Virginia regiment during the war; was loy
to Virginia; and
Whereas he lost a hand in said service, and has died since the wa
leaving a widow who is aged and in needy circumstances; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the coun:
court of Scott county shall examine into the condition of the abov
named widow of said Ewell H. Quillin; and should it be that he w:
true and loyal to Virginia through the war, lost a hand therein, ar
has died since the same, and that she is now old and in needy circur
stances, and should receive aid from Virginia; and if the county cou
of Scott should send to the auditor of public accounts a certifica
that the above recited facts are true, then the said auditor is directe
to place the name of Mistress Lizzie Quillin on the pension list, and ps
her annually the sum of fifteen dollars on and after the first day
April, nineteen hundred. :
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
