Chap. 1328.—An ACT for the relief of Edgar T. Mastin, a disabled Confed-
erate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Edgar T. Mastin, a disabled Confederate soldier of company
D, thirtieth Virginia regiment, was a true and gallant soldier during the
late war between the states; was loyal to Virginia; and
Whereas he is suffering from rupture caused by service in the war,
and from varicose veins caused by long marches while in the army,
which disabled him from all kinds of labor; and
Whereas he is without means of support; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county court of Spotsylvania shall examine into the condition of the
above-named Edgar T. Mastin, a Confederate soldier; and if it shall
appear that he was true and loyal to Virginia through the war; that in
consequence of his service in the army he is totally bodily ruptured,
and incapacitated for manual labor; that he is needy and poor, and
should receive aid from Virginia; and if the county court of Spotsyl-
vania shall send a certificate of said facts to the auditor of public
accounts of Virginia, then the auditor is directed to place the name of
Edgar T. Mastin on the pension list, and pay him annually the sum
of fifteen dollars on and after the first day of April, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
