Chap. 1315.—An ACT for the relief of Mrs. Sarah Cox, widow of James Cc
who lost his life while in the service of the Confederate states.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Joseph Cox, a Confederate soldier of Montgomery count
of Captain Waddy James’ company, twenty-fourth Virginia infanu
was wounded and died in the hospital in Richmond during the war; a'
Whereas his widow, Mistress Sarah Cox, who is now a perfect inval:
unable in any way to do any thing towards keeping herself, and is
dire distress and cannot appear before court; and
Whereas the said Mistress Sarah Cox is entitled to receive a pens
under the regular pension act, approved March fifth, eighteen hundr
and eighty-eight, could she prove her claim in court, but this she cann
do, on account of disability, and as the only witness living is Capta
Waddy James, and he is in the far northwest; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That up
certification of the judge of Montgomery court to the auditor of thie
facts, that the auditor of public accounts of Virginia be, and he
hereby directed to place the name of Mistress Sarah Cox on the pensi
roll of Virginia, and pay her annually a pension of fifteen dollars.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
