Chap. 1309.—An ACT for the relief of J. L. Wright, of Dinwiddie county.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas J. L. Wright, of Meridan, Dinwiddie county, Virginia, was
a member of company B, fifty-sixth Virginia regiment, commanded by
Colonel Eppa Hunton, and while a soldier of this command said J. L.
Wright, on the third day of July, eighteen hundred and sixty-three,
did receive a wound in the head, from which he has never recovered,
being partly blind and unable to do manual labor; and
Whereas he is now poor, needy, and unable to take care of himself;
therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the county
court of Dinwiddie shall examine into the condition of the above-
named J. L. Wright, a Confederate soldier, and should it be that he
was true and loyal to Virginia, and that he is now in condition as above
described, and should receive aid from Virginia, and if the county court
of Dinwiddie should send a certificate of the facts to the auditor of
public accounts of Virginia, then the auditor of public accounts is
directed to place the name of J. L. Wright on the pension ‘list, and
to pay him annually the sum of fifteen dollars, on and after the first
day of July, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
