Chap. 1290.—An ACT for the relief of Joseph R. Herndon, a disabled Confed-
erate soldicr.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Joseph R. Herndon, a disabled Confederate soldier of Flu-
vanna artillery company of Colonel Wilham Nelson’s battalion, was
a loval soldier during the war between the states: and
Whereas he is now suffering from general debility, old age, being
now seventy-four vears of age, and from rheumatism, aggravated, if
not produced, by exposure in the military service of the state during
said war, and is thereby disabled from making a necessary support;
therefore,
1. Re it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That upon the
application of the said Joseph R. Herndon, the county court of Flu-
vanna, in which county the said Herndon resides, or the judge thereof
in vacation, mav examine into the condition of the said Herndon, and
hear evidence as to the statements above in recital made, and if they
shall appear to be true, the said court shall cause its certificate of the
facts to be entered of reeord, and a copy thereof certified to the auditor
of public accounts of Virginia, who shall place the name of the said
Herndon on the pension rolls, and issue to him annually. on or after
the first dav of April. his warrant on the treasurer for fifteen dollars.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
