Chap. 1270.—An ACT for the relief of Henry C. Mason.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Henry C. Mason, a disabled Confederate soldier, of com-
pany E, forty-ninth Virginia volunteers, was a true and gallant soldier
during the war, and was loyal to Virginia; and
Whereas he is now suffering from chronic rheumatism, caused by
hardships in the war and by a wound received at second battle of
Manassas; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county court of Fauquier shall examine into the condition of the
above-named Henry C. Mason, a Confederate soldier, and should it
be that he was true and loyal to Virginia during the war, and that
he is now afllicted and disabled, and incapacitated totally for manual
labor, and that he is needy and poor by reason of said incapacity, and
should receive aid from Virginia, and if the county court of Fauquier
should send a certificate of the facts to the auditor of public accounts
of Virginia, then the auditor of public accounts is directed to place the
name of Henry C. Mason on the pension list and pay him annually the
sum of fifteen dollars for such total disability, on and after April first,
nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
