Chap. 127.—An ACT defining a lawful fence for Charlemont district, Bedford
county.
Approved January 24, 1900.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That within
Charlemont district, of the “county of Bedford, the boundary lines of
ach tract or lot of Jand shall be, and are hereby, declared to be a lawful
fence, and all animals going at large In said district shall be subject to
he provisions of sections twenty hundred and forty-two, twenty hundred
ind forty-nine, and twenty hundred and fifty of the code of Vi Irginia:
provided further, that the outside county line of said district shall be,
to all intents, a lawful fence to the same effect as to animals crossing
it and trespassing upon the real property of citizens within the said
district, as if the trespass was committed by the stock of one citizen
within said district upon the real estate of another citizen of the district.
2. All acts and parts of acts, so far as they conflict with this, are to
that extent repealed; but nothing in this act shall be construed as in any
sense modifying the statute requiring railroad companies to fence their
tracks or else pay damages for stock killed. :
3. This act shall be in force from June first, nineteen hundred.
