Chap. 1262.—An ACT for the relief of John T. Kidd, a disabled and needy
Confederate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas John T. Kidd, a disabled Confederate soldier of company
K, forty-fourth Virginia regiment of infantry, was a loyal soldier during
the war between the states; and
Whereas he is now, by reason of old age, rheumatism, and general
debility, rendered unable to earn a support by manual labor, and is
needy and poor and deserving aid; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That upon
the application of the said John T. Kidd, the county court of Fluvanna,
in which county the said Kidd resides, or the judge thereof in vacation,
may examine into the condition of the said Kidd and hear evidence as
to the statements above in recital made, and if they shall appear to be
true. the said court shall cause its certificate of the facts to be entered
of record and a copy thereof certified to the auditor of public accounts
of Virginia, who shall thereupon place the name of the said Kidd on
the pension roll and issue to him annually, on or after the first day
of April, his warrant on the treasurer for fifteen dollars,
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
