Chap. 1224.—An ACT for the relief of Sallie F. Marks, the widow of a Confed-
erate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Sallie F. Marks, widow of P. C. Marks, a disabled Confed-
erate soldier, is old and destitute, and the widow of P. C. Marks, who was
a true and gallant soldier during the war, and was loyal to Virginia;
therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the county
court of Richmond shall examine into the condition of the above-named
Sallie F. Marks, widow of a Confederate soldier, and should it be found
that he was true and loyal to Virginia through the war, and that his
widow is now afflicted and disabled, and incapacitated for manual labor
by reason of injury, disease, or old age; that she is needy and poor, and
should receive aid from Virginia, and if the county court of Richmond
shall send a certificate of fact to the auditor of public accounts in Vir-
gimia, then the auditor of public accounts is directed to place the name
of Salhe F. Marks on the pension list, and pay her annually the sum
of fifteen dollars, on and after the first day of April, nineteen hundred.
This act shall be in force from its passage.
