Chap. 1206.—An ACT for the relief of R. S. Giles, a Confederate soldier.

Whereas R. S. Giles, a Confederate soldier of Nelson county, Vir-
ginia, was true and loyal to Virginia during the war; and
Whereas he is now seventy years of age, broken down in health and
strength, and without any means of support; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county court of Nelson county shall examine into the condition of the
above-named R. S. Giles, a Confederate soldier, and should it be that
he was true and loyal to Virginia through the war, and that he is now
afflicted and disabled, and incapacitated for manual labor by reason of
said age and disease, that he is needy and poor, and should receive aid
from Virginia, and if the county court of Nelson county should send
certificate of the facts to the auditor of public accounts of Virginia,
then the auditor of public accounts is directed to place the name of R.
S. Giles on the pension list, and pay him the sum of fifteen dollars
per annum.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
