Chap. 1188.—An ACT for the relief of James P. Gressitt, a Confederate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1%.
Whereas James P. Gressitt, a disabled Confederate soldier, was a true
and gallant soldier during the late war, was loval to Virginia; and
Whereas he is now suffering from the following disabilities—to wit:
Constitution broken down from service in the war, and afflicted with
rheumatism and a broken hip; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virgimia, That the county
court of King and Queen county shall examine into the condition of the
above-named James P. Gressitt, a Confederate soldier, and should it be
found that he was true and loval to Virginia through the war, and that
he is now afflicted and incapacitated for manual labor, from the effects
of service in the Confederate army; that he is needy and poor, and should
receive aid from Virginia, and if the county court of King and Queen
county should send a certificate of the facts to the auditor of public
accounts of Virginia, then the auditor of publie accounts is instructed
to place the name of James P. Gressitt on the pension list, and pay him
annually the sum of fifteen dollars, on and after the first dav of April,
nineteen hundred.
