Chap. 1153.—An ACT for the relief of A. R. Bagby, Bennett Farror, Elisha
Cassoda, and Grief Newcomb, disabled Confederate soldiers.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas A. R. Bagby, Bennett Farror, Elisha Cassoda, and Grief New-
comb were brave Confederate soldiers in the service of the state of Vir-
ginia in the war between the states, and it appears from the written
testimony of numerous reputable citizens that these soldiers are now very
old and quite destitute, and are disabled from disease acquired in service,
that they are incapable of supporting themselves; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the county
court of Charlotte shall duly inquire into the alleged facts, and if it
be proven that these soldiers were true, loval and brave Confederate
soldiers in the service of the state of Virginia in the war between the
states, and that they are now old and destitute and incapacitated for
earning a living by reason of disease directly acquired in service, the said
court shall certify the facts to the auditor of public accounts, who shall
place the names of said A. R. Bagby, Bennett Farror, Elisha Cassoda,
and Grief Newcomb on the pension “rolls of Vi irginia, as entitled to sccure
each fifteen dollars per annum.
2. This act shall be in force from April first, nineteen hundred.
