Chap. 1081.—An ACT for the relief of William A. Hopkins, a disabled Con-
federate soldier, of Bedford county.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas William A. Hopkins, a disabled Confederate soldier, of Bed-
ford county, was wounded during the Confederate war, once at Howell
House and once at Spotsylvania courthouse; and
Whereas in consequence of said wounds said William A. Hopkins is
incapacitated for daily labor, and is poor and helpless; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the county
court of Bedford county shall examine into the condition of the above
mentioned William A. Hopkins, a Confederate soldier, and should it be
that he has suffered and is,incapacitated as above stated, and that he is
needy and poor, and should receive aid from Virginia; and if the county
court of Bedford county shall send a certificate of the facts to the auditor
of publie accounts of Virginia, that the auditor of public accounts 1s
directed to place the name of Wiliam A. Hopkins on the pension list,
and pay him annually the sum of fifteen dollars on and after the first
day of April, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
