Chap. 1055.—An ACT for the relief of David W. Quarles, a disabled Confed-
erate soldier of Bedford county.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas David W. Quarles, a disabled Confederate soldier, of Bed-
ford county, Virginia, was a member of company Ff, sixth Virginia
cavalry, General Fitzhueh Lee commanding; and
Whereas he is now suffering from the following disabilitvy—to wit:
In consequence of a wound in the left hand, causing the muscles in
arm to contract and swell so as to disable him from manual labor,
which wound was received in the battle of the Wilderness in cightcen
hundred and sixtv-three: and
Whereas said David W. Quarles is old and without means of support ;
therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county court of Bedford county shall examine into the condition of the
above-mentioned David W. Quarles, and should it be that he has suffered
and is incapacitated as above mentioned, and that he is needy and poor,
and should receive aid from Virginia: and if the county court of Bed-
ford county shall send a certificate of the facts to the auditor of public
accounts of Virginia, that the auditor of public accounts is directed
to place the name of said David W. Onarles on the pension list, and pav
him annually the sum of fifteen dollars on and after the first dav of
April. nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
