Chap. 1031.—An ACT for the relief of Henry C. Cheek, an ex-Confederat
soldier of Bedford county.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Henry C. Cheek, a disabled Confederate soldier of Bedfor
ounty, Virginia, was a member of company G, twentv-eighth Vit
inia regiment, and was a true and gallant soldier during the late Cor
edcerate war, was true to Virginia; and
Whereas the said Henry C. Cheek, who enlisted in ciehteen hundre
nd sixty-two, and was discharged at the surrender at Appomattox i
izhteen hundred and sixty-five, was wounded through the richt han
t the second battle of Manassas; and |
Whereas the said Henry C. Cheek has suffered a stroke of paralys
n consequence of said wound, and is unable to perform manual lal
ufficient to support his large and helpless family: therefore.
Be it enacted by the general assemblv of Vireinia, That th
‘county court of Bedford connty shall examine into the condition «
he above-mentioned Henry C. Cheek, a Confederate soldier, and shou!
it be that he has suffered and is incapacitated as above stated, and th:
he is needy and poor, and should receive aid from: Virginia; and if th
county court of Bedford county shall send a certificate of the fact
to the auditor of public accounts of Virginia, that the auditor of publi
accounts is directed to place the name of said Henry C. Cheek on th
pension list, and pay him annually the sum of fifteen dollars on an
after the first day of April, nineteen hundred.
